From Our Residents

“When interviewing for residencies, I found Iowa had the best group of attendings. I’ve since developed good relations with all of them. Our attendings are great about seeking you out and making sure you are exposed to a wide range of cases.”

“In emergency medicine, it doesn’t happen unless we’re all part of the same team. My goal for training is not only to develop the responsibility to come up with an answer, but also to build trust among all the members of our team to do the best job possible for our patients.”

“At Iowa, we develop a strong skill set so that in any kind of emergency we are the calm one in the room. You get that confidence from lots of experience: seeing what’s in front of you and knowing what to do.”

“I love Iowa because it is a family friendly program. The residents are all close and work together in a supportive and caring manner. We all started as strangers and have become a family of our own.”

“What drew me to Iowa was the true team-based atmosphere and level of support from faculty to residents to staff to everyone in the ED. Our faculty have diverse interests, and I knew that I would be able to develop my own niche in emergency medicine with their support and guidance. Iowa is a great place to train and live!”
