Thank you for your interest in the ACGME-accredited University of Iowa Department of Emergency Medicine Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Fellowship!

Our sub-specialty is growing stronger by the day and we are honored to be a part of it.

The purpose of the EMS Fellowship training is to:

  • Maintain a high bar of standardized training for EMS physicians
  • Achieve the proper qualifications to practice EMS medicine to include board certification
  • Further organize and integrate the care needed for the chain of survival
  • Discover new methods to advance the science of EMS
  • Improve patient care quality and safety
  • Advocate on behalf of EMS providers
  • Educate the next generation of EMS providers

Our fellows will achieve competency in the clinical aspects of EMS, medical oversight, quality management and research and special operations.  Graduates of our fellowship will be eligible for the Emergency Medical Services sub-specialty board certification examination as administered by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
