Dr. Thomas Gross leads the senior fellows on a stairclimbing fundraiser for the American Lung AssociationThe American Lung Association in Iowa host an annual fundraising event in support of lung health-related activism and research. Held in Des Moines, this year’s Fight for Air Climb featured 1800 stairs climbed over 85 stories. This year’s UIowa team, Gross Negligence, was captained by faculty member Tom Gross who agreed to climb in these ridiculous IHeartGuts tights if the group reached its fund-raising goals. Dr. Gross is accompanied by fellows (left to right) Zachary Holliday, Raul Villacreses Rada, and Ilya Amaza. An early morning of sucking wind reminds everyone that the mission of the ALA is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease - for when you can’t breathe, nothing else matters. Recovery was facilitated by attending a local brew pub specializing in fluid and electrolyte replacement therapy.
Every year the division hosts a celebration for family and friends to honor each graduating class of fellows. The events reinforce the importance of collegiality in our training program as well as our commitment to excellence in patient care and research.
