The goal of this fellowship is to train physicians with a M.D. or D.O. degree, who have completed an ACGME-accredited adult or pediatric neurology residency, to become competent in the subspecialty of neuromuscular medicine. The fellow is expected to become proficient in the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders and the techniques of nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyography (EMG). 

After the one-year fellowship, the neurologist will have obtained:

• Skills in interviewing and examining patients with neuromuscular diseases
• Knowledge of differential diagnosis for the various clinical presentations of neuromuscular problems
• Knowledge and application of appropriate utilization of the investigations for diagnosis of neuromuscular disorders, including laboratory, pathologic, radiologic, and electrodiagnostic/neurophysiologic testing
• Ability to perform NCS and EMG independently; skilled in advanced techniques (repetitive nerve stimulation, single fiber EMG)
• Exposure to muscle and nerve pathology interpretation
• Knowledge and skills to manage inpatients and outpatients with neuromuscular diseases

For fellows who are interested, there is potential for a one-year research fellowship following completion of the ACGME-accredited fellowship.
