Open Houses
Open Houses are an opportunity for medical students to learn more about the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Residency Program. A panel of current residents will discuss our program and combined training in general. If you are thinking of applying for Internal Medicine/Psychiatry residency or are interested in learning about a unique training opportunity, please join our Zoom events!
Applications are only accepted through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS), and all applicants must also register with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
We accept applications from September 1 through January 1. All applications are reviewed. Applicants receiving interviews are selected based upon their letters of recommendation, curriculum vitae, personal statement, academic record, and board exam scores.
A complete Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) application includes:
- Common Application Form (CAF)
- Medical school transcript
- Dean's letter of recommendation
- Three letters of recommendation from clinical faculty
- One page personal statement
- USMLE or COMLEX transcript
- Photo (optional)
