Both the University of Iowa and our Pediatric Hematology/Oncology training program are committed to diversity. The University of Iowa was the first public institution in the country to admit women on an equal basis with men, admitting African-American students from its inception in the mid-19th century. This legacy and the enormous importance of diversity in the global community of the 21st century underscore our institution's commitment to improving access to opportunity for all members of society, especially women and underrepresented marginalized folks.
