Welcome

The Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Iowa is a three-year ACGME-accredited program that provides fellows with an outstanding clinical and research education, to become capable and independent gastroenterologists who are ready to pursue careers in academic medicine upon completion.

The fellowship program offers unique educational opportunities in clinical medicine and research. The James A. Clifton Digestive Health Center provides a multidisciplinary environment with many clinical programs for patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Yearly, more than 10,000 diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed in the procedure unit. Members of our faculty have active research programs, allowing fellows to obtain training in clinical or basic research. Several interdisciplinary training programs add to the many opportunities for career development in academic medicine.
