My favorite things about Iowa: The people in this program are really what make it special, both the residents and faculty are an extremely collegial and supportive group while being equally driven and motivated to succeed.  The program has a great depth and breadth of experience in all 3 Cardiothoracic disciplines.  As a place to live, Iowa City has great balance.  It is small enough to avoid a long commute, affordable enough to buy a home, while having an impressive variety of cultural and outdoor activities to fill your time outside of work.
