Technology

Overview

Our providers incorporate state-of-the-art equipment and technology as they provide care for our patients. Our residents and fellows learn the latest techniques and philosophies to incorporate these procedures and to further refine them in their future practices.

Types of Technology

Minimally invasive surgery techniques, including robotic systems that increase a surgeon's dexterity, precision and control.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help patients with wounds that are difficult to heal.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), a life-support system for patients with acute cardiac or respiratory failure.

We are home to the world's first fully digitally integrated image-guided radiation therapy center. The center includes 4D radiation therapy treatments for adults and children.

Our Emergency Department includes a state-of-the-art treatment center and is served by a network of air and ground transportation services.

UI Children's Hospital includes the state's highest-level specialty care facilities for pediatric intensive care and neonatal intensive care.

We use an electronic medical record system for all of our patients and procedures. The complete medical record, including laboratory results and diagnostic imaging, are accessible immediately anywhere in the hospital. Patients have the option to subscribe to MyChart, a program that allows them to access portions of their medical records securely on-line.  MyChart is a convenient way for patients to manage appointments, contact members of the care team, view and pay billing accounts, and renew prescriptions.
