Vincent Magnotta, PhD, has been awarded the Carl Gillies Chair in Radiology. This chair honors Dr. Gillies, a revered educator and clinical radiologist in the early years of the department. A donation from the Gillies' family funded the Gillies Conference Room in Boyd Tower when the department lived there, and this Chair perpetuates that gift in some ways. Dr. Magnotta is a outstanding MR physicist, collaborator and administrator. He manages our three (soon to be four) research MR scanners, supports a large community of collaborators in other departments that use those scanners, and has a major research program of his own looking at the metabolic aspects of psychiatric disease. We congratulate Dr. Magnotta on this well-deserved honor and extend our gratitude towards the Gillies family for their continuing support.
