Dr. Ling-Zhi Liu receives a Pilot Grant Award from the Environmental Health Sciences Research Center

Dr. Ling-Zhi Liu was awarded a Pilot Grant Award from the Environmental Health Sciences Research Center (EHSRC) at the University of Iowa. The grant is entitled Establishment of a Cr(VI) Exposure Animal Model to Study Abnormal miR-27/Nrf2 and CXCL5 Pathways and Epigenetic Regulation. The project will develop chromium [Cr(VI)] exposure animal models by intratracheal instillation and inhalation, and correlate CXCL5 and COX-2 expression levels with inflammation and lung injury induced by Cr(VI) treatment. The Pilot Grant Program is a valued component of the EHSRC, serving both the research and training missions of the Center. This program has helped advance the careers of numerous talented investigators by nurturing innovative ideas and creating opportunities for further grant support and publication in environmental health. The total funding for this award is $40,000 and the project period is April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020.
