Dr. Jonathan Davick, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pathology, has been named to the Children’s Oncology Group Renal Tumors Committee with the role of central pathology reviewer for rapid assessment and confirmation of Wilms tumors and other rare pediatric renal tumors on a national basis. He is one of only four pathology reviewers appointed to this role in the United States.

Wilms tumor makes up 5% of malignancies in children under 15 years of age. The focused study of this tumor through groups such as COG has led to continued outcome improvement through cooperative clinical studies, with an overall survival rate to around 90%.

The primary goal for pathology central review is to obtain a central consensus on the diagnosis and stage of Wilms tumor so that accurate and reproducible data is available for clinical trials.

Dr. Davick is a graduate of the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. He completed his pathology residency at the University of Virginia and a pediatric pathology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. He joined the Department of Pathology at Iowa in 2020.
