Dr. Bing-Hua Jiang Appointed to the Pathology Endowed Chair for Cancer Research

Dr. Bing-Hua Jiang was appointed to the Pathology Endowed Chair for Cancer Research by the University of Iowa Provost’s office. Dr. Jiang recently joined the Department as a tenured Professor and CCOM Scholar.

Dr. Jiang received his undergraduate degree in China, and his Ph.D. from Mississippi State University. He then performed two post-doctoral fellowships. The first was at Johns Hopkins University with Dr. Greg Semenza and the second at the Scripps Research Institute with Dr. Peter Vogt. The first focused on regulation of transcription and the second on signaling pathways in cancer.

Dr. Jiang started his academic career at West Virginia University in 2000 and moved to Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia in 2010. Bing-Hua’s cancer research program is multifaceted and includes the role of signaling pathways (PI3K), reactive oxygen species and microRNAs in angiogenesis, tumorigenesis and therapeutic resistance. He is also exploring the underlying oncogenic mechanisms of environmental arsenic and chromium. Dr. Jiang has an extensive publication record and is currently funded by two R01 grants.
