Submandibular Gland Anatomy: Vascular Supply - Ultrasound Imaging with Color Doppler

See also: Anatomy of submandibular gland and duct

The arterial blood supply to the submandibular gland is primarily from the facial artery and branches including the submental artery. Other arterial contributions may come from the lingual, deep lingual, and external carotid.

The venous drainage is variable - but primarily ascribed to the anterior facial vein, the 'hilum vein' and vena comitantes accompanying the facial artery (Li 2007).
