Internal Medicine - Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Fellowship

Welcome

The Division of General Internal Medicine offers Fellowship Training through the Veterans Administration Quality Scholars Fellowship (VAQS). The VAQS is a two-year, non-accredited interprofessional program to develop leaders, researchers, and educators in health care improvement, patient safety, and health services research.

The VAQS fellowship seeks outstanding physicians from all of the eligible boards, nurses, pharmacists, and psychologists interested in academically and clinically rigorous training focused on continuous improvement in health care, health professions education, and health care delivery.

Fellows will commit 80% of their time to study, quality improvement, and health services research while maintaining a 20% clinical role at the Iowa City VA Medical Center. Fellows have the opportunity to collaborate and receive mentorship from investigators at the Iowa City Comprehensive Access & Delivery Research & Evaluation (CADRE), a Health Services Research & Development Center of Innovation (COIN), as well as from faculty at the Carver College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, and College of Nursing.
