Pouw receives MAPS award from American Glaucoma Society

Andrew Pouw, MD won the 2022 Mentoring for Advancement of Physician-Scientists (MAPS) Award from the American Glaucoma Society (AGS).

The MAPS Program is a multi-faceted mentoring program of the American Glaucoma Society (AGS). It is designed to aid the organization in its core mission by helping glaucoma specialists and scientists to further their careers in science and research of glaucoma. The MAPS Awards provide AGS with a mechanism to assist its early career physician scientist members by providing tools and resources to further their careers as potential leaders in the specialty of glaucoma care. The awards are given to clinicians at early stages of their academic careers to facilitate their glaucoma research interests. They are intended to help recipients overcome barriers and hindrances to their careers and research efforts.

Dr. Pouw’s project, “A Novel Perimetry Platform with Virtual Reality and Table Testing for TeleGlaucoma”. He is developing and testing methods for patients to measure their visual fields at home using tablets (iPads) and/or virtual reality headsets.
