Ophthalmologists and alumni from across the country and around the globe returned to the University of Iowa for the 2016 Iowa Eye Annual Meeting and Alumni Reunion.  The educational program featured several named lectures delivered by Drs. Lisa Brothers Arbisser, Jane Bailey, Alan Crandall, and Bruce Spivey, as well as several other stimulating presentations.  Special events throughout the weekend provided numerous opportunities for old friends to reminisce and reconnect.

The Department also honored former faculty member Dr. Robert Watzke with the creation of the Robert C. Watzke, M.D., Professorship in Retinal Research. A special investiture ceremony recognized Dr. Watzke’s contributions to the field of ophthalmology and granted the new professorship position to current Retina physician Dr. Michael Abràmoff.
