New eye specialists join the team

University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics is pleased to add several new ophthalmologists to the eye care team. These new faculty bring additional expertise and increased access for patients at our various clinic locations.

Lindsay De Andrade, MD returns to Iowa after completing a pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus fellowship at UCLA Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles. De Andrade completed residency and medical school training at the University of Iowa. She is a clinical assistant professor in the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus clinic where she treats patients for amblyopia (lazy eye), eye infections, nearsightedness, and strabismus.

The Cornea and External Eye Disease clinic adds Christopher Sales, MD, MPH as an associate professor. Sales comes from Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City where he was on faculty. He completed his fellowship in cornea and external disease at the Devers Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon and residency training at Stanford University Hospital & Clinics in Palo Alto, Calif.  Sales treats patients experiencing corneal disease and ulcers, Dry Eye, and eye infections, as well as performs laser vision correction and implantable contact lens surgeries. He also has expertise in eye banking and will be conducting research with the Iowa Lions Eye Bank.

Andrew Pouw, MD joins the Glaucoma clinic as a clinical assistant professor after completing a glaucoma fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. Pouw offers surgical and medical treatment of glaucoma and cataract surgery. Among his research interests are improved methods for tracking glaucomatous progression and using new media tools for resident education.

Lastly, the Oculoplastics, Orbit, and Reconstructive Surgery clinic adds Chau Pham, MD as a clinical assistant professor. Pham completed her fellowship in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Illinois – Chicago before locating in Iowa City. She specializes in ocular oncology and orbital tumors, cosmetic eyelid and facial surgery, orbital conditions, and thyroid eye disease. She also provides cosmetic eyelid and facial surgery.
