How to Apply

Eligibility

Applicants to the University of Iowa Clinical Informatics Fellowship must meet the eligibility requirements as set forth by the ACGME which include completion in an ACGME-accredited residency program (or planned future completion for residents taking research years), an AOA-approval residency program, a program with ACGME International (ACGME-I) Advanced Specialty Accreditation, or a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Cananda (RCPSC)-accredited or College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)-accredited residency program located in Canada.

Special exceptions may be made for fellows who would like to pursue a combined fellowship in clinical informatics and another medical subspeciality of their choice.

Fellow Eligibility Exception

The Review Committees will allow the following exception to the fellowship eligibility requirements: 

1) evaluation by the program director and fellowship selection committee of the applicant’s suitability to enter the program, based on prior training and review of the summative evaluations of training in the core specialty

2) review and approval of the applicant’s exceptional qualifications by the GMEC

3) verification of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification
 

How to Apply

Applications to the Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program must be submitted through the Association of American Medical Colleges' Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The fellowship can be found on the ERAS under Clinical Informatics (Internal Medicine) new specialty.
