How to Apply

The Cardiothoracic Imaging Fellowship will begin accepting applications for the 2025-2026 year according to the SCARD agreements:  https://www.scardweb.org/policies

To apply for the fellowship, please submit the information below:

  • Completed application that can be e-mailed, mailed, or faxed
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Summary of your training background, areas of strength and interest, and a brief description of how you would hope to utilize and apply your fellowship training.
  • Three letters of recommendation—letters should come from those persons familiar with your recent training and current professional activities. Please instruct reference individuals to mail their letters of recommendation directly to the fellowship coordinator at the address listed below.
  • Copy of your ECFMG certificate, and whether you are requesting J-1 or H1-B visa sponsorship.
  • Copies of USMLE steps 1, 2, and 3 transcripts
  • Please send all materials electronically to the email below.  Recommenders may send their letters direct to the email below.

After your application is complete, it will be reviewed, and a decision made regarding an invitation to interview following SCARD guidelines.

Criteria for Candidacy

In keeping with ACGME/GME guidelines, applicants are required to have completed a four-year residency program in Diagnostic Radiology at an institution accredited by the ACGME (or their respective international or non-U.S. equivalents). They must also have completed the USMLE Steps 1, 2 and 3.  Candidates are preferably in the process of preparing for certification in the American Board of Radiology (ABR).  Additionally, applicants must qualify to obtain a State of Iowa Medical License.   To find out about qualifications for a State of Iowa Medical License, please visit the Iowa Board of Medicine's website.
